The Notorious One is back. Conor McGregor returns to the Octagon this Saturday to headline UFC 257. He will face off in a rematch against Dustin Poirier on Fight Island in Abu Dhabi.
The two previously faced off in a featherweight bout at UFC 178 in September 27, 2014. At UFC 178 Conor McGregor made quick and easy work of Poirier. Winning by first round TKO in just under two minutes. What’s different this go around? McGregor is five years older and has been inactive. With only two fights over four years, one of which a loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov. Is there too much rust to shake off?
Poirer is betting on it. As for Poirier, he has come into his own, including a run as interim champion after a win over Max Holloway. Poirier has gone on a 10-2 run since losing to McGregor. One of the losses also coming to Nurmagomedov. No disrespect there. Khabib is the best in the business at this point.
Can Dustin Poirier overcome the McGregor demon? Or does Conor McGregor simply have his number. Tune in to find out this Saturday. Until then check out the preview here.
