This Father’s Day, Grammy-winning hip-hop legend, Fat Joe participated in a different type of collabo.  The hip hop icon joined CÎROC VS Fine French Brandy and non-profit The Dad Gang to celebrate the Very Special Dads at the 2nd Annual ‘March of Dads,’ in Brooklyn, NY.

The Men

With hip-hop anthems such as “Lean Back” and “All the Way Up”, everyone knows Fat Joe’s musical talents.  What many may not know is he is also a dedicated dad of two boys and a girl. Ahead of the March he took to his Instagram feed to let everyone know about his participation in the March. But also provided his thoughts on fatherhood, stating “I’m so blessed to be a father to three amazing children and to still have my Pops with me. Every man has a different circumstance, but the most important part of fatherhood is showing up. This Sunday, I’ll be showing up in a big way for the #VerySpecialDads @thedadgang March in New York. Hope to see you there.”

Many however may not know about The Dad Gang. The organizers of the march. The group is a global not-for profit, consisting of conscious social community of dads on a mission to change the way the world views Black fatherhood. The group was founded by Sean Williams. Williams was inspired to start the organization about seven years ago after less than complimentary encounter with a woman in a predominately white neighborhood in Long Island, New York.

Since their inception The Dad Gang has provided $70,000 in financial support. In addition, 250 strollers and wellness kits have been handed out to dads in need. According to the group’s web site, their aim is to “not just tackle the misconception that active black fathers are M.I.A but also be support system for black and brown dads nationwide by providing and connecting them to resources that will allow them to be the dopest dads they can be.”

The March

As a part of that mission, on Sunday morning, all the dads and their loved ones came together at Grand Army Plaza to march in celebration and unity. Together they amplified the experience of fatherhood. The March kicked off with opening remarks from Fat Joe and a check presentation with a donation from CÎROC VS to The Dad Gang’s community organization, Random Acts of Dadness. The donation is to help further the organizations mission to celebrate Black fatherhood every day.

Now that’s a cause we can not only get behind but help magnify!
