If you are eager to try and lose some weight, the first thing you might look into is to start counting your calories. This certainly seems sensible – after all, you need to know how much of a deficit you need to introduce in order to see some results, don’t you? But as time goes on, people seem to be moving away from this method of dieting in increasing numbers, and there might be some good reasons for that. The fact is that you can easily lose weight without having to worry about calories at all, and it might be that you can be healthier in doing so too. In this post, we’ll look at why calorie counting might not be the way to lose weight – and what you might want to do instead to really shed those pounds.

What Calorie Counting Can Do

First up, however, let’s look honestly at what calorie counting can do, and how it might prove effective sometimes. If you are really in a bad way and you want to completely turn your life around, becoming more aware of how much you are actually eaint could be a really important thing to do, and it might be that you need to make sure that you are looking into how many calories you are eating first to be able to do that properly. In such circumstances, counting your calories is probably a good thing to do for a while, until you can get your eating down to a more normal level. If you feel you need to do that first, then absolutely make sure that you do, until you can move beyond it in the ways we’ll discuss here.

Its Dangers

However, it’s important to remember that calorie counting is also potentially dangerous in a number of ways. Alone, it is simply not enough to lose weight for good, and you will only find yourself being disappointed and frustrated time and again because of this method of weight loss. You will also not be paying any attention to the actual food you are eating, and whether or not you are eating healthily. You could, for instance, be eating only fast food and still keep your calories with a certain limit – but so what? You would still be eating terribly, and causing yourself a lot of harm in the process. So you should be able to see that calorie counting alone is not doing much for you – and nor is it doing much even if you focus on eating well at the same time. Why? Because calories are not everything, and not necessarily even the best indicator of whether you are likely to lose weight.

The Keto Diet

You might have heard of the keto diet. It is a way of losing weight which requires that your body enters a state known as ketosis, wherein it doesn’t have the necessary carbs to produce energy and so has to make its own. It does this by burning fat reserves in the body, producing ketones in doing so, which give you the necessary energy to continue on. This might all sound very complex, but actually in practice it is alarmingly simple. To follow a keto diet, you simply need to make sure that you are eating low amounts of carbs, medium amounts of protein, and high fat. That fat should be healthy fat, however: things like olive oil, peanut oil, avocados, salmon, nuts and so on are the way to go here. Avoid processed foods, and make sure that you are eating whole foods. But follow that, and your body will burn fat so much faster than if you were merely trying to cut down on your calories. You might be amazed at how quickly you see a difference – and all without ever thinking about how many calories you’re eating each day. Take a look at OriGym – Keto Diet for more information.

Intermittent Fasting

One way to get into ketosis is through intermittent fasting, which is a kind of weight loss method all of its own accord – and another which, you guessed it, does not require that you count any calories. This, too, is incredibly simple: you just make sure not to eat for a window of time each day. That may include your sleeping hours, so you can have a fasting window of 16 or 18 hours easily enough. You then eat as normal for the rest of the day, without worrying about how many calories you are consuming. Do this, and you will find within 8 weeks that you are losing weight fast. It’s truly incredible, and it’s worth a go.
