The first trailer for Warner Bros. and DC’s highly anticipated Joker: Folie à Deux dropped. We get our first look at what’s in store for the sequel to the critical and box office smash Joker, which is the crazed origin story of Arthur Fleck who goes on to become Batman’s greatest nemesis.

In this outing Joaquin Phoenix reprises his Oscar-winning role as Arthur Fleck. This time he’s joined by Lady Gaga who is portraying the Joker’s equally deranged love interest Harley Quinn.

The dark and gritty footage begins at the famed Arkham Asylum. Joker is where we left him at end of the first film, locked up in Arkham. But while in prison Fleck sets his eyes on another inmate Gaga’s Harley Quinn. They meet fall in love and plan all sorts of mayhem.

“I’ll tell you what’s changed,” Joker says in the trailer. “I’m not alone anymore — that’s what we should be talking about!”

Todd Phillips is once again directing. Phillips debuted the footage at Cinema Con. Not much is known about the actual plot of the sequel, which is reportedly a jukebox musical. Something Phillips did not confirm or deny.

Irrespective of that, you can be sure fans will flock to see what’s next for the Clown Prince of Crime. Especially since he’ll have is his bey by his side. Joker: Folie à Deux opens October 4th. Until then check out the trailer here.
