Flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo and No. 1 contender Brandon Moreno face off tonight at UFC 256. Figueirido is wasting no time in jumping back in the octagon. He headlined UFC 255 just three weeks ago. Figueirido made his first title defense making short an easy work of Alex Perez.
Defense number two at UFC 256 is the quickest in UFC history. In Brandon Moreno Figueirido faces an opponent with just as short a layoff. More importantly, Moreno is an opponent with a path to victory.
For the first time since Formiga, Figueiredo faces an opponent unlikely to walk straight toward him and his power punches. Moreno has the length and jab to fight at distance, and the counter punching to make his opponent pay for any wide swings. If he keeps the game upright he has a chance.
