In order to change your life, you’re going to need some courage to change on your side. You’re going to need to feel like you can face something as monumental as building a better life for you and your loved ones, and you’re going to need to know you’ll be OK if you fail. Most of all, you need to know you can commit to an idea like this, and see it through no matter what awaits you on the journey.

And thus, if change scares you, but you know something in your life needs to be different, let’s try and help you on your way. You don’t have to face change alone, and you never have to be afraid of making sure it benefits you.

Work Out What You Need

Fear of the unknown is the one thing that keeps everyone afraid – if you don’t know what’s going to happen next, as most of us don’t in our lives, you’re going to be scared of what’s awaiting you behind that door, or when you wake up the next morning. It’s similar to being afraid of the dark; you can’t see what’s in front of you, you’re not sure what’s waiting for you, and you hear all kinds of things about the dark from the people around you.

So, to make sure you’re filled with courage on your journey of change, you need to work out what needs to be different in your life. You can’t commit to a lifestyle change without knowing why it’s got to go, or what kind of benefits that would bring. Similarly, you can’t walk into a situation that’ll help you change, such as visiting a doctor or a therapist, without knowing why you’re there, or what kind of response they will have for you. You need to know you’ll be received with warm, compassionate arms. And if you aren’t, you don’t need to stick around for more – you can be proactive, and make a change that’ll help you to change. Which brings us on to the second point.

Don’t Settle for a Solution

If you settle for something that is supposed to help you, but makes you feel bad and downbeat the entire time you’re there, you’re not going to be positive about the change you need to make. And if you aren’t positive, you’re far less likely to stick it out to see some results from it.

So make sure you’re in the right place, when you walk into a rehab center or a life coaching session – make sure you rub along well with the person hosting the session, or trying to give you advice. Of course, you’re going to have to step out of your comfort zone, but you definitely shouldn’t feel intimidated or judged once you do so. Remember, you need something constructive, not just critical, on the other side waiting for you.

To change your life, you need to have courage. And that courage doesn’t have to be hard to find.
