Can you script a year better than the one experienced by Laurie Hernandez? We think not! The little bundle of Boricua started out the year making her senior level gymnastics debut. By July she was qualifying for the U.S. Olympic team. While August saw her and the Final Five blow the roof off of the 2016 Olympics in Rio, capturing the gold medal in the Women’s Gymnastics Team All Around and Hernandez snagging a silver medal for herself for the balance beam event. Many would consider that enough for one year. But, the Old Bridge Township native was just getting started.
