World Whisky Day, is Saturday, May 19th. The day of celebration for this libation began in 2012 and has become hugely popular around the globe. In celebration of all types of whiskies, people to honor the day by drinking it anyway they wish – neat, on the rocks, or in a cocktail, it’s the drinker’s choice!

We of course had to put the ‘LLERO twist on the holiday, by learning a new recipe brought to you by mixologist Gabe Orta. Made with one of the world’s most popular blended Scotch whiskies, Johnnie Walker this cocktail recipe is distinctive enough to honor World Whisky Day and easy enough to make and share with family and friends.

Named, the Permanent Vacation, it is made with Johnnie Walker Black Label, gets its delicious taste from a touch of rum, coconut, and pineapple juice, showcasing the whisky’s complex and smoky profile. Ingredients

1 oz Johnnie Walker Black Label
1/2 oz Zacapa Rum 23
1⁄2 oz Crème de Menthe
1 oz Coco Lopez
2 oz Fresh Pineapple Juice
2 dashes Angostura Bitters

Garnish

Shredded Coconut
Fresh Pineapple Leaves

Preparation

1. First, rim Collins glass with shredded coconut.
2. Add all ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
3. Shake vigorously and strain into coconut-rimmed Collins glass over crushed ice.
4. Garnish with fresh pineapple leaves.
