The National Dominican Day Parade (NDDP) has always been a magnificent celebration of rich Dominican heritage, culture, and contributions to society. This year’s event promises to be even more spectacular as this week the NDDP announced its 2024 honorees and sponsors.

 

The Theme

First let’s start with the theme. The theme of the 42nd anniversary of the National Dominican Day Parade is “Merengue: Nuestro Ritmo.” A theme that recognizes Merengue as more than just music. But rather, a vital part of our cultural fabric, embodying joy, resilience, and the community spirit deeply rooted in Dominican identity.

 

The Line Up

Now on to the lineup. Cristina Contreras, Chair of the National Dominican Day Parade Board of Directors, announced this years distinguished honorees and dedicated sponsors at the press conference held this week at the Alianza Dominicana Cultural Center. Congress member Adriano Espaillat and DOT Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez were in the house to provide opening remarks.  The 2024 Honorees include:

  • El Padrino: Pedro Brache Álvarez
  • Ambassador of Culture: Amaurys Grullon
  • Ambassador of Governmental Stewardship: Ariana Collado 
  • Ambassador of Innovation: Denise Felipe Adams
  • Ambassador of Excellence in Government: Zoila Del Castillo
  • Ambassador of Media: Alfredo Acosta 
  • Ambassador of Media: Eliecer Marte 
  • Ambassador of Public Service: Deputy Chief Jose Frias
  • Ambassador of Strategic Services: Deputy Mayor Ana J. Almanzar
  • Embajador de Excelencia en Periodismo: Manuel Ruiz
  • Embajador de Emprendimiento: Antonio Espaillat
  • Embajador de Negocios: Ramon Fausto Cabral
  • Embajador de Radio y Entretenimiento: DJ Aneudy
  • Manhattan Borough Adopted Dominican Honoree: Luis A. Miranda, Jr.]

 

The Sponsors

In addition to the honorees, the National Dominican Day Parade has lined up some heavyweight sponsors for the 2024 parade. This year companies and brands such as Goya Foods, Coca Cola, Tito’s Vodka and Anheuser-Busch are supporting the cause. While media giants and outlets such as WPIX 11, ABC, NBC/Telemundo, El Diario and Mega 97.9 are also lending a hand. These sponsors have shown unwavering support for the Dominican community and have played a crucial role in making the parade a resounding success.  Finally in a nod to its NYC roots, the Offices of Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson, and Manhattan Borough President have thrown their support behind the celebration.

 

Join the Celebration

Speaking of celebration, the parade is set to take place on Sunday, August 11th, beginning at noon along the Avenue of the Americas from 37th to 55th Street.
