Gennadiy Golovkin, aka GGG is once again a middleweight title holder. Golovkin reclaimed the IBF strap with a close but unanimous decision over Sergiy Derevyanchenko. However, make no mistake, this was not an easy night for GGG. The bout turned out to be way closer than previous efforts. The fight started in customary GGG fashion, with him dropping Derevyanchenko in round one and landing heavy blows in the second round. Yet, Derevyanchenko staged his own attack and it was effective. In many instances the faster and more effective offensively of the two. It left many questioning, at 37 years old, is father time beginning to catch up with Golovkin? Perhaps, however, the immediate mission was accomplished. Regain a title and continue to press for a third bout for Canelo Alvarez. In the meantime check out the highlights here.
