Today, Marvel Studios dropped the first teaser trailer and poster for the upcoming feature film, Thunderbolts*. Presented as a rag tag group of misfits forced to assemble by default Thunderbolts* will serve to bookend Phase 5 of the MCU.
The irreverent team-up features depressed assassin Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) alongside the MCU’s least anticipated band of misfits. The film also returns to the screen Marvel Cinematic Universe characters Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Red Guardian (David Harbour), John Walker (Wyatt Russell), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) and Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), in addition to some exciting new faces.
The trailer kicks off with Yelena visiting her father Red Guardian, and she is clearly looking for some meaningful purpose in her life, as is he. We then cue to John Walker who isn’t faring much better. Eventually each of the team is lured to private facility to find out they have been trapped. Of course, you know what comes next….united we stand, divided we fall, even for a Suicide Squad rag tag team.
Jake Schreier directs Thunderbolts* with Kevin Feige producing. Louis D’Esposito, Brian Chapek, Jason Tamez and Scarlett Johansson serve as executive producers.
