Mid-term elections aren’t typically known for exciting races, it’s more like business as usual. This year was different thanks to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a 29-year-old Puerto Rican millennial who ran for Congress in New York City. The newest Member-elect to the House of Representatives, rose to prominence in June when she won the Democratic primary for New York’s 14th congressional district, representing neighborhoods in the Bronx and northern Queens.
