The Latin Lover may be a stereotype but Latino men do drive women wild. Perhaps it’s their passionate and intense nature, a trait that exists even if they work on Wall Street. Or maybe it’s that “there’s more than meets the eye” persona?

Latino men, I’m here to let you in on a secret. Take notes, and if you’re missing one of these items add it to your game. Here are the top 5 reasons why women flock to the Juan’s and Jose’s of the world!

5. Sensitive Machos

My father was the typical sensitive macho. He’d holler at my mother to get him a fork (cause he couldn’t walk on his two good legs), but he’d cry at a wedding. Francellis Quiñones, a 34-year-old Boston teacher, appreciates these seemingly contradictory qualities admitting that she loves how Latinos successfully navigate between macho and progressively sensitive. “Even when they yell, ‘Get me a Corona bien fria, mujer!’”

4. They’re hard working and family oriented

Latino immigrants come to America to work hard and help their families. My father and uncles did so; it’s instilled in our culture. Alexandra Morbitzer, a 24-year-old social media consultant from Ohio who now resides in New York City, has experienced this with her Latino boyfriend.

“It’s a very big priority [for him] to take care of his mother — helping her with rent, replacing whatever breaks,” she says. How does his generosity affect their relationship? “He is protective of me and likes to take care of me,”

Morbitzer gushes.

3. “You Are My Mujer”

A Latino man may commit faster than you can say, “Mira muchaho!” My last three relationships were with Latino men; three dates in, I was a novia. Ilse Giselle, a 25-year-old fashion blogger from Los Angeles, has never dated a Latino man, but hopes to for this very reason. “I wish the non-Latinos I’ve dated would commit to relationships as fast as Latinos do,” Giselle says.
