Marisol Rios De La Luz may seem like your average girl next door. Trust us, she is anything but. By day she’s an undergrad at Columbia University, studying Earth and Environmental Sciences and living with her parents Flor and Oscar ‘Chango’ Rios Velez in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. But like any great hero, it’s just a secret identity. During a semester abroad at the University of Puerto Rico she went on an archeological excursion. While on the dig, Taino gods and the mysticism found on the island would grant her superhuman strength, an ability to fly and to control wind. She would become La Borinqueña. A superheroina whose mission is fighting for her homeland of Puerto Rico and all those who mean to do it harm.
Damas y caballeros wait no more. As La Borinqueña has formally arrived on the scene. With issue #1 having dropped on December 22nd. It could not have come at a better time. Because if ever Puerto Rico needed a hero it is now.
