A little way’s back we posted an article that covered the newest form of disruption – smart athletic wear. Shirts that could read your body temperature, breathing and even improve your golf swing. Well NFL All-Star Tom Brady and Under Armour have taken things a bit further with Athlete Recovery Sleepwear.
The Goal
What is Athlete Recovery Sleepwear? Pajamas designed to help you recover from workouts while you sleep. For all those vets, you know the older you get the tougher it is to recover from strenuous physical activity. For you youngbloods, just think of all those times you woke up in the morning after a tough workout sore as all hell. Well according to Under Armour the TB12 technology embedded in their Athlete Recovery Sleepwear will help you recover from workouts while you sleep. As Brady told Under Armour “I firmly believe that sleep and recovery are critical aspects of an effective and holistic training program…Proper sleep has helped me get to where I am today as an athlete and it is something that I continue to rely on every day.” But how does it work?
The Tech
According to Under Armour the key to achieving this goal lies in the print on the inside of the Athlete Recovery Sleepwear, which utilizes a technology called – Far Infrared. Far Infrared is a type of energy on the infrared spectrum that is said to have several benefits for the human body. Tom Brady’s TB12 technology was developed to harness it even when you’re resting. A bioceramic print on the inside of the garment absorbs the body’s natural heat and reflects Far Infrared back to the skin which is said to help your body recover faster, promote better sleep, reduce inflammation.
The Gear
So what’s available? Soft sleep shirts, joggers, and shorts are on shelves—at $160 to $200 per set. Now, you won’t be throwing game winning touchdowns, but you’ll recover like an all-star.
