Michael B. Jordan returns to the ring for Creed III. The first official trailer arrived today. The third installment of the Rocky Balboa spinoff, not only sees Jordan return to the role of Adonis Creed, but serves as the directorial debut of Jordan who assumes director duties behind the camera as well.

The trailer begins with Adonis at the peak of his powers and popularity. A champion boxer gracing the cover of Forbes Magazine, his wife Bianca (Tessa Thompson), a success in her own right as singer, and their daughter Amara (newcomer Mila Davis-Kent) rounding out the perfect family.  In a voice over Creed tells the audience “I spent the last seven years of my life living out my wildest dreams. Bianca. Rocky. My dad. I stood on their shoulders.”

Then comes trouble. It wouldn’t be a Creed film if there weren’t. It seems an old friend from Donnie’s rough and tumble youth has returned. Damian Anderson, played by Jonathan Majors, arrives fresh out of prison to reunite with old childhood friend Donnie and seemingly get a helping hand back in the boxing game. Except Dame has his sights set on more than a profession, he wants it all, including what Donnie’s got. Eventually the only way to settle it is in the ring.

Creed III also stars Wood Harris returning as Little Duke, Florian Munteanu (returning as Donnie’s “Creed II” opponent Viktor Drago) and Phylicia Rashad and an undisclosed role by none other than Canelo Alvarez

Creed III opens March 3, 2023. Until then see the trailer here.
