Bad Bunny ends 2023 and starts 2024 with a surprise video drop for his latest “No Me Quiero Casar”. After viewing the video one may come away thinking that art is imitating life, or in this case Benito’s!
“No Me Quiero Casar” begins with Benito at New Year’s Eve celebration. Throughout the revelry he’s bobbing and weaving an endless barrage of questions regarding his marital status – or lack thereof. It’s a relatable occurence. What Latino man hasn’t been queried by their tio’s and titi’s about this. He’s even treated to an impromptu proposal made by fellow family member, played by the hilarious Saturday Night Live cast member Marcello Hernandez.
Weighed down and annoyed by all the talk of marriage we cue to Benito in gaucho mode as he’s cruising down the streets on bikes with entourage in tow, then to a rooftop where Spider-Man quite literally saves Bunny’s life and proceeds to party with Latin Trap king. Only to end the night asking the web slinger asking same question – Cuando vas a casar?
Directed by long-time collaborator Skillz, the short film is clearly a pun on Benito’s high profile relationship with Kendall Jenner and may be even sending a signal to fans and beau alike. For all it’s over the top nature it’s fun video and song. It also shows that Bad Bunny can even join on the joke and poke fun at himself.
