John Leguizamo is back with the second season of Leguizamo Does America. Following the success of its debut season, this show once again takes audiences on a vibrant, celebratory, and deeply personal tour of Latino culture across the United States. Whether you’re a proud son of the diaspora or an enthusiast seeking to understand the richness of Latino heritage, Season 2 promises to educate, entertain, and inspire in equal measure.

Here’s a closer look at what to expect this season.

The Heart of Leguizamo’s Mission

John Leguizamo has always been a champion of Latino culture. Through his comedy, theater performances, and now television, he has made highlighting the achievements, struggles, and contributions of Latinos his life’s work

Of his mission and the purpose of the show, Leguizamo stated “87% of Latino contributions are not in the history textbooks. Ben and I set out to put those 87% back into history textbooks and into series. It wasn’t easy: Ben and I have been working really hard and a lot has to do with Ben’s perseverance and incredible charm. He is a fine example of Latin ingenuity. As Latinos, that’s one of our superpowers.”

Season 2 builds on the foundation of the first, amplifying underrepresented voices while exploring new dimensions of identity, artistry, and cultural pride. Leguizamo merges storytelling with on-the-ground interactions, authentically showcasing the diversity of the Latino experience. It’s this honesty—and humor—that makes the series standout in today’s media landscape.

A Cross-Country Cultural Road Trip

Season 2 takes the format of an engaging, unscripted road trip, with Leguizamo traveling across six American cities teeming with Latino influence. On this season’s itinerary are Philadelphia, Raleigh, Phoenix, San Antonio, Denver and The Big Easy – New Orleans.

Although the specifics of each episode will delightfully surprise audiences, you can expect every city to highlight distinct cultural nuances and showcase creatives, community leaders, and movers and shakers leaving their mark on the world. From grassroots activists to local small-business owners, the show has a way of turning the spotlight on individuals you won’t find in the pages of history books but whose contributions are undeniably impactful.  Expect nothing less from Season 2 as figures like “Ted Lasso” actor Cristo Fernandez, Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-Texas) and former Philadelphia Councilwoman Maria Quiñonez Sánchez, who was the first Latina to hold elected office in that city, are scheduled to appear.

Cultural Significance of Season 2

Why does this show matter? While Latinos make up roughly 20% of the U.S. population, their representation in mainstream media still lags far behind. Leguizamo Does America boldly challenges this disparity by centering Latino stories and identities unapologetically.

The narrative isn’t about “fitting in”—it’s about thriving in dual cultures without compromising authenticity. For many Latino viewers, the show acts as a mirror, reflecting back their realities, dreams, and unique joys. At the same time, it invites a broader audience to go beyond stereotypes, learning about the depth and vibrancy of the culture.

The timing couldn’t be more perfect. Latino communities are quite literally under siege doe to the current administrations immigration policy.

A climate not lost on Executive Producer, Ben DeJesus, who said “even though we didn’t plan it this way, the timing for our show couldn’t be any better. It’s so important that everyone recognizes how much Latinas and Latinos contribute to the fabric of our great nation. This show isn’t just for Latino audiences, it’s for all Americans. In our country, you can’t go a day without benefitting from the hard work and resilience of Latinos. Leguizamo Does America is all about celebrating that.”
