Right now, Latinos seems to be the biggest check on the meteoric political rise of the comb-over king. Trump may well continue to be a darling of the dystopic, but without Latino support, he will never win a general election. While Latinos make up 10% (and growing) of the national vote, they make up a disproportionate amount of key battleground states like Florida, Colorado and Nevada. All are states that Republicans need to have any chance of victory. And perhaps that is what makes the GOP the most nervous.

Perhaps equally as important, Latinos now have enough economic clout within key cities and states, that Trump is losing real dollars about as fast as his words continue to flow. New York City mayor Bill De Blasio has vowed to not do any more business with the Donald. Macy’s has stopped selling his clothing line and major networks like NBC and Univision have parted ways with his ratings driven shows. As more businesses cut ties with the three-ring circus that is Trump, one has to wonder how Trump became so successful in the first place. Oh right…he inherited it.

Trump has become his very own Colonel Kurtz from the movie Apocalypse Now, who believes himself a demigod who can do no wrong, surrounding himself with a sycophantic base, bent upon aggrandizing himself while the jungle burns around him. If no one else will stand up to the billionaire bloviator – then Latinos seemed to be. The question is, who else is brave enough to stand with us, or is the country too far gone that we can’t get it back from the brink?
