Canelo-Jacobs was a competitive affair at T-Mobile Arena with Canelo Alvarez prevailing by a unanimous decision. Two judges scored the bout 115-113 and one had it 116-112. Canelo won many of the early rounds, surprisingly by using better defense and not slugging it out. However, Jacobs mounted a comeback in the later rounds by applying more pressure. A tactic that would win him many of the later rounds and make it a closer bout. However, it was too late to overcome the early deficit. Canelo-Jacobs was billed as a middleweight unification bout.
