In a stunning turn of events which we don’t think anyone saw coming, Golden Boy Promotions announced that is star fighter Canelo Alvarez will face off against Amir Khan on May 7th in Las Vegas where they will christen the new T-Mobile Arena.
Khan (31-3, 19 KO), has been inactive as of late, but has been angling for what seems like years now, for a mega-fight against the likes of either Mayweather, Pacquiao and most recently Kell Brook and Danny Garcia. He will move up in weight to face Alvarez (46-1-1, 32 KO), who is coming off a career defining victory over Miguel Cotto. This will be Alvarez first defense of his WBC middleweight title and fits in line with his annual fight during the Cinco De Mayo weekend.
