Delving into the L.A. car culture, Lowriders focuses on a teenage graffiti artist (Gabriel Chavarria) who paints murals on the hoods of lowrider cars to help his older brother (Theo Rossi – Sons of Anarchy) win an upcoming competition.
The trailer just dropped and it will be hitting theaters May 11th. With all the tent pole action and superhero fare, it’s nice to take in an indie that focuses on the L.A. car and Latino culture. Were optimistic about this one. It seems to go beyond the stereotypes and have some self aware dialogue that isn’t condescending. The producers of American Gangster and 8-Mile, are behind it, so there is hope for a serious and authentic tone. Plus it’s got A-List talent in the form of Oscar nominated Demián Bichir (A Better Life)and Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives) and Melissa Benoist (Supergirl). Fingers crossed, our hopes are high for this one. Peep the trailer below.
