DC Comics follows up their successful DC FanDome with a second installment on Saturday, September 12th. Entitled DC FanDome Explore the Multiverse, fans will once again be treated to a 24-hour event featuring new panels that focus on DC’s television properties, cosplay, fan art and more.
DC however is also bringing diversity and inclusion that the latest generation of comic books have come to represent. DC FanDome Explore the Multiverse will include a number of panels and seminars tapping into Latino geek culture. We’ve curated the schedule and here are just a few of the events LatinxGeeks can look forward to.
I’m Latinx What’s Your Superpower
Diane Guerrero, one of the stars of Doom Patrol and Ben Lopez, executive director of the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP), will discuss what it’s like being Latinx in Hollywood, playing a superhero, and how they both harness the power of their voice to effect change! Guerrero has long been a talented actress featured in shows such as Orange Is the New Black and Jane the Virgin. Yet, she’s been an activist just as long. Advocating on issues from voting rights to immigration. So, her voice on this panel should prove to be as informative as it will be entertaining.
Brazil Loves DC. For the Glory, For the Fans
This panel will focus on Brazil’s DC fan base. The panel includes Brazilian artist Ivan Reis. Reis will draw his comic book take on the upcoming big screen version of The Batman, but also speak to his history as one of DC’s most accomplished artists. Brazilian animated characters Turma Da Monica will also be appearing for the first time ever with the Teen Titans. This is a special get together animated by Warner Bros. Animation.
Latin America Celebrates DC
DC isn’t stopping at Brazil. The DC FanDome will also visit Latin America’s biggest fans, filmmakers, talent, industry experts and cosplayers. This series of panels will include director of the upcoming big screen solo outing of The Flash, Andy Muschietti. But also one of the villains of the upcoming Wonder Woman 1984, Pedro Pascal. There will also be a panel of some of the best DC illustrators in Latin America. They will discuss how they bring your favorite DC characters to life. Finally, this segment will include a DC roundtable discussion with Mexican superfans talking about their favorite DC shows, films and characters.
Teen Titans: Spotlight on Kami Garcia and Gabriel Picolo
The New York Times bestselling author Kami Garcia and superstar artist Gabriel Picolo preside over this panel. One that gives fans an inside look at the creative process behind their hit Teen Titans young adult graphic novel series.
BAWSE Females of Color Within the DC Universe
This panel first appeared at DC FanDome Hall of Heroes, apparently however it was an abridged version. Back by popular demand this panel will be more extensive and fully fleshed out. The BAWSE panel will include some of the hottest actresses across DC television and film. As they sit down with celebrity DJ D-Nice and Grammy-winning singer/actress Estelle to discuss how they use their confidence and vulnerability to navigate their careers in Hollywood. Panelists include Meagan Good (SHAZAM!), Javicia Leslie (Batwoman), Candice Patton (The Flash), Tala Ashe (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow), Nafessa Williams and Chantal Thuy (Black Lightning), and Anna Diop and Damaris Lewis (Titans).
Now, if you think that’s all DC FanDome Explore the Multiverse has in store. Think again. There will be panels on upcoming DC television shows such as Doom Patrol, Superman & Lois, as well as Fan Q&A’s with Margot Robbie of The Suicide Squad, Gal Gadot, Chris Pine of Wonder Woman 1984, Grant Gustin of The Flash, Aquaman director James Wan and much more.
