Anyone at any age has had a dream car. It’s something that’s pushed when you’re a child. Barbie had her pink dream convertible, Batman had the Batmobile. Even the Flintstones had their own take on the car. But with that said, did you have a four-wheeled fantasy? Most people have some type of dream car, some realistic, some not so much.

This chariot of aspirations, or the vehicular equivalent of a unicorn in a world of sedans and SUVs. It’s not just a mode of transportation. It’s a reverie on wheels, a manifestation of automotive desire that makes your heart race faster than a sports car hitting the open road. The dream car is the vehicular soulmate you didn’t know you were missing. A charmer with curves and charisma, and a passport to a parallel universe where every drive feels like a scene from a movie.

Maybe this dream car is from a toy you had growing up, maybe it’s from a movie, something from a gorgeous car show, or even a car that’s trending nowadays thanks to Influencers and the rich. While honestly, not everyone can have their dream car, sometimes they just flat out don’t exist or realistically wouldn’t be able to drive (like Flintstones or the Jetsons cars). But how can you get close to that? Why is it even worth getting close to that? Well, here’s what you need to know!

What are the Benefits of Driving Your Dream Car?

Other than looking incredible behind the wheel of this luxurious automobile, are there actually any benefits of getting the car of your dreams? A vehicle that for many could be considered out of reach? While, of course, it’s always going to depend on what sort of vehicle you’re after, at the end of the day, this is something that’s meant to make you happy. So, here are some pretty nice benefits you can count on.

Sheer Joy

Perhaps the most obvious benefit is the sheer joy and satisfaction that comes with driving the car you’ve always dreamed of. From the growl of the engine to the feel of the steering wheel in your hands, every moment spent behind the wheel is an exhilarating experience.

It’s Your Style

Unless you build a car from the ground up, or if you’re able to buy all the right accessories, most cars are just going to be mass-produced vehicles that lack personality. But your dream car is a reflection of you; it’s a nice way to represent who you are. Whether it’s the color, interior design, or unique features, every customization reflects your individual style. In general, enjoying a drive in a car that suits you perfectly is a daily reminder of your unique identity.

Confidence is Everything

Have you ever been in a car, and all of your confidence just dropped? Bad cars just do that, junkie clunkers undoubtedly do this, and so all of the confidence just goes out. So when it comes to a nice car, one you love, specifically owning your dream car, can actually be that significant boost for your confidence. The pride that comes with driving a vehicle that turns heads and sparks conversations contributes to a positive self-image. It’s similar to an outfit; it represents you at first glance, so of course, you want something great.

Sense of Achievement

Has there ever been something you really wanted, you finally got (no matter how big or small), and you just felt so proud of yourself? Maybe this was an outfit? A watch? A vacation? Even a dream car! For the average person who’s actually able to get their dream car or a car that closely resembles what they’re after, it means they need to set goals, work hard, and of course, overcome some obstacles. It’s this nice reminder of how far you’ve gotten, the progress you made, and how you’re unstoppable.

It’s Iconic for You

If you think about it, every car that exists, or even just the fictional ones, is a part of automotive history. Just by simply owning the car you’ve always wanted, no matter how bold, unique, or ordinary it is, your car is still apart of history for you. It’s going to forever be an icon for you. You could even say that this is a cultural and technological heritage! It’s what you think about it that truly matters, you!

Admiration

Alright, let’s face it: some people want their dream car because they know it’s unique. They want to capture attention; they want to turn heads. That’s fine; there’s not really anything wrong with that. If you want admiration for your luxury car, then why not?

Stress Relief

In general, driving can be therapeutic; driving a car that you love can be therapeutic. The freedom of the open road, the hum of the engine, and the immersive driving experience can be a stress-relieving escape from the demands of daily life.

Potential Investment

In this sense, “investment” can have multiple meanings. Buying yourself your dream car can be an investment in your life because you’re getting a good running car that makes you happy. At the same time, depending on the car, it could have the potential to be a financial investment. It’s true that cars usually go down in value once purchased; there’s no doubt about that. If your dream car is a classic car, these usually appreciate in value; the same goes for limited editions, certainly custom builds, and unique ones.

Community

It’s awful to say, but sometimes you really can’t embrace commadorie if you’re lacking what others have. Unfortunately, when it comes to the car community, it can be like that, and you’ll have to have a unique car to join in. For example, there are a lot of classic car clubs, but you can only join if you have one, and the same goes for other types of cars.

How Easy Is It To Get Your Dream Car?

Honestly, this question is going to have some subjective answers since it’s really going to vary. For some people, they might have multiple dream cars; for others, every few years, they change their mind on what their dream car is. Plus, how realistic is it to get your dream car?

If you want the Batmobile and all of it’s functions, then you can count on that being impossible,  but if you’re someone who appreciates simplicity and wants to create something more customized from the ground up, then who’s to say it’s not easy to get? In general, it’s all going to depend. But with that said, here are some tips for getting this car of your dreams.

What’s the Budget Like?

Honestly, it’s about being realistic with yourself. Dream cars can come with dream price tags- only a few can achieve them. So, you’ll need to be realistic about your budget and prioritize your must-haves.  Sometimes, it’s okay to not get exactly what you want, but getting second best or something close can still get the job done.

Be Open to Customization

Have you ever heard of the Johnny Cash song “One Peice at a Time”? You might want to think of your dream car the same way; just take it one piece at a time until you get your dream car. Sometimes, your current car can have the potential to turn into the car of your dreams. It’s up to you if you want to learn the techniques of car customization, such as installing an air intake in the color, paint job, accessories, you name it.

But of course, there are body shops out there that are completely open to making a total transformation on your car, so that’s something to consider, too. Just be flexible when it comes to how you plan to achieve the car of your dreams.

Work with Professionals

So, this was already mentioned above, but this still needs to be hammered down pretty hard. There’s always a chance that you might not be able to buy your dream car outright, and sometimes you need to build it instead. If that were to ever be the case, then you need to work closely with professionals. For hte most part, this doesn’t have to be nearly as expensive as outright buying a brand new car (though it depends, of course).

Seriously, unless you’re an automotive expert, working with professionals is crucial to turning your dream into reality. You’ll basically need to collaborate with skilled mechanics, designers, and technicians who specialize in car customization to ensure that each modification is executed flawlessly.

It’s Also Okay To Not Have Your Dream Car

It’s a hard band aid to rip off, but it’s true. While sure, the allure of our dream car often dances in our minds with gleaming headlights and roaring engines; sometimes, practicality taps us on the shoulder.  It’s perfectly acceptable to settle for slightly less than the ultimate dream car when reality and budget constraints play their parts. Is it really settling for less? Sure, maybe, but isn’t it better to have something you know you’re still going to like than have nothing at all? After all, the road to happiness may take a few twists and turns, and that slightly less dreamy car could be the vehicle that makes the ride all the more enjoyable.
