“Veni, vidi, vici” is a Latin phrase. Meaning, “I came. I saw. I conquered.” Julius Caesar reportedly sent this message to the Roman Senate, to summarize that he had promptly won a battle. This is exactly what we saw at the Charlo Brothers Doubleheader on Saturday Night.

Twin brothers Jermall and Jermell Charlo faced and defeated what were touted as the toughest tests of their respective careers to date. Middleweight champion Jermall Charlo  defeated top contender Sergiy Derevyanchenko with a relatively easy unanimous decision. A surprise to many as Derevyanchenko had only two defeats in his career. One to GGG and the other to Daniel Jacobs. In those bouts Derevyanchenko  gave them both very difficult tests. Conventional wisdom indicated Derevyanchenko could do the same against Charlo. Not the case.

In the co-main event, Junior Middleweight champion Jermell Charlo fared even better. Dismantling IBF & WBA champion Jeisen Rosario with an effective jab. Flooring Rosario no less than three times in route to a stoppage in round eight. In the run up to the Charlo Brothers doubleheader, the fighters were being touted as the next big thing. That this fight card was their coming out party.  They did not disappoint. The bigger question now is – who’s next? Until then check out the highlights here.
