F

resh off what we now know is the last season of Los Espookys, Julio Torres continues to be hard at work. Torres is set to direct, star and executive produce a series he created called Little Films (the current working title). Little Films was recently greenlit by HBO.

The series will span six episodes, and tell the tale of when Torres lost a little golden oyster. The people he encounters as he searches for it, and the musings he has along the way. All are points of departure for introspective, often eerie comedic stories about outsiders navigating an increasingly corporate and rapidly dysfunctional New York City.

Of the new project, Torres said, “We here at Julio™️ are so excited to be joined by many friends in weaving these fantastical stories shot entirely on stages”.

Irony Point, Fruit Tree and 3 Arts Entertainment are producing Little Films. The series begins production in February of 2023. Along with Torres, executive producers include Dave McCary and Emma Stone for Fruit Tree.

Julio Torres is best known for writing for Saturday Night Live from 2016 to 2019. He is also the co-creator and starring in Los Espookys, which ran on HBO for two seasons.

If Little Films is anything like the quirky creative genius Torres brought to Los Espookys, audiences will sure be in for a treat.
