Captain America: Brave New World

The latest entry of Marvel Cinematic Universe may be one of the greatest tests for its superhero’s. The MCU once churned out strings of hit movies, however, its strength has been spotty in the last couple of years. Some hits, in the form of Deadpool & Wolverine, Wakanda Forever and Shang-Chi & Legend of the Ten Rings and some misses in the form of The Marvels, The Eternals and Thor: Love & Thunder.

As such, this latest entry will be a litmus test of sorts. In this continuation/reboot of the Captain America franchise, Sam Wilson, formerly the Falcon is now firmly carrying the shield and finds himself in the middle of an international incident after meeting with President Thaddeus Ross. He must soon discover the reason behind a nefarious global plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red.

Anthony Mackie returns as Wilson, with Harrison Ford joining the cast as Thaddeus Ross. The producers and studio have promised a tone that is half-superhero movie, half-political thriller. The addition of Ford will no doubt help contribute to that tone.

Captain America – Brave New World opens in theatres February 15th.

“SLY LIVES! (aka The Burden of Black Genius)”

Music luminaries such as Chaka Khan, Nile Rodgers, George Clinton, Ruth Copeland, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis appear to provide commentary on the group, as well as contemparies Andre 3000, D’Angelo, Q-Tip opining on the influence the group had on their own music.

The Alto Knights

For those looking to get their gangster movies fix – enter The Alto Knights. Directed by Barry Levinson and written by Nicholas Pileggi (GoodFellas). Costello survives but is wounded in the attempt and ultimately decides to retire from the Mafia.

All the gangster genre elements have aligned for this production. From talent in front of the camera in the form of DeNiro, behind the camera with Levinson and the written word with Pileggi. If they recreate the magic of collabs past, the audience should be pleased.
