Tomorrow night Andy Ruiz steps back into the ring for the first time in over a year. Ruiz last fight was in December of 2019 – a rematch granted to Anthony Joshua, after Ruiz upset Joshua and took his heavyweight crown.  Joshua redeemed himself that night in December, due in part to an overweight and out of shape Ruiz showing up to fight.

After the Joshua defeat Ruiz made some changes. Now training alongside Canelo Alvarez with trainer in Eddie Reynoso, a new workout and diet plan that has resulted in shedding over 55 pounds and rededicating himself to his craft. His next step, getting a victory in the ring.

To do so, he’ll have to overcome fellow countryman Chris Arreola.  Arreola, was once a phenom in his own right. While he is no longer the up and coming contender that once challenged Vitali Klitscho for the heavyweight crown, but he’s no slouch either. It should prove to be a formidable test for the reborn Ruiz.

With both fighters at a crossroads in their respective careers, Ruiz vs. Arreola should be an interesting match up.  Check out the preview here.
