Today Disney+ and Lucasfilm dropped the first trailer for Star Wars: The Bad Batch. The latest addition to the Star Wars universe comes in animated form, but is no less compelling.
The Bad Batch is essentially a spin-off to Star Wars: The Clone Wars series. It brings us back to a post Clone War period. The series follows the elite and experimental clones of the Bad Batch (first introduced in The Clone Wars), known as Clone Force 99, “[m]embers of Bad Batch – a unique squad of clones who vary genetically from their brothers in the Clone Army — each possess a singular exceptional skill which makes them extraordinarily effective soldiers and a formidable crew. In the post-Clone War era, they will take on daring mercenary missions as they struggle to stay afloat and find new purpose.” But, as is often the case, the Empire isn’t happy with Clone Force 99, and they want them wiped out, so they find themselves on the run.
The Bad Batch has the tonal look and feel of their Disney+ brethren The Mandalorian, except instead of one space cowboy, we get a dirty dozed/suicide squad incarnation. Either way, looks like tons of fun.
Star Wars: The Bad Batch drops on Disney+ on May 4th. Until then peep the trailer here.
