Today Warner Bros. dropped the official trailer for The Suicide Squad. The sequel/reboot of the prior 2016 film. Some elements remain. Once again a band of misfit prisoners are compelled on a do or die mission by the government. Certain cast and characters are also back in the mix, namely, Margot Robbie returning as Harley Quinn, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller and Joel Kinniman as Col. Rick Flagg.
Yet, that’s where to similarities stop. Behind the helm this go around is James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy), a whole host of new cast and characters, such as Idris Elba, John Cena and Pete Davidson to name a few. But above all else the sensibility. Producers of the film describe this version as a 1970s-style war movie, where anything goes. By the looks of the trailer they seem spot on.
