ICYMI, the cold open Saturday Night Live served up quite a few surprises. Chief among them Lin-Manuel Miranda appearing as presidential candidate Julian Castro. Aside from the humor, the appearance is noteworthy given prior criticism for excluding Castro from its season debut. Looks like SNL listened, as last night the “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda stepped into the role.
As for the skit, there were quite a few funny moments. Including, an apology from Miranda’s Castro, “[a]s a Democrat. I want to apologize for not being gay,”… “But I promise to do better in the future.” As well as a pitch “I’m young, I’m diverse, I’m latinobama,” he said. “Let’s get that hashtag going.” Comparing himself to Barack Obama.
