Today Warner Bros. released the first trailer for Dune. Based on the 1965 science fiction novel by Frank Herbert and a remake of the 1980’s film version.

This iteration is directed by Dennis Villenueve (Blade Runner 2049) and boasts an all-star cast, including Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgard, Zendaya, Dave Bautista Jason Mamoa and Javier Bardem.

Warner’s also released the official synopsis for the film:

A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, Dune tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential—only those who can conquer their fear will survive.

The trailer looks amazing and appears to have Villenueve’s imprint, from color, grandeur and tone, with amazing attention to detail.  Dune opens December 18th. Until then check out the trailer here.
