As with the hurricanes in Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico, Mexico has suffered tremendous earthquake activity with no less than three earthquakes afflicting various parts of the nation. The most powerful a 7.1 quake occurring in Mexico City last week. The death toll stands at over 200 with mass destruction to city buildings, roads and bridges.

Many are in need of basic necessities to survive. Many have also expressed a desire to help. Below are a list of a number of reputable organizations and individuals who have created funds to receive donations, monetary or otherwise, to assist in recovery efforts.

International Community Foundation

The ICF charity has traditionally done a lot of work in and on behalf of Mexico. It is currently raising money for earthquake relief in a number of different areas in Mexico impacted by the two earthquakes that hit. To donate visit: International Disaster Relief Fund.

Global Giving

Oxfam Mexico

The Oxford Committee for Famine Relief was founded in 1942. Now a global organization it works to end the injustice of poverty and save lives in disasters. This nonprofit is also focusing its efforts on relief after the Mexico earthquakes. To donate visit: Oxfam Mexico.

UNICEF Mexico

The United Nations Children’s Fund specifically works to support children impacted by natural disasters, including building “child-friendly spaces” after disaster strikes. To donate visit: Unicef.org
