UFC Fight Island 3 served as the finale to UFC’s month long bubble in Abu Dhabi. It closed with Robert Whittaker and Darren Till. Whittaker was victorious by unanimous decision.
However, the highlight of the night belonged to another fighter. UFC newcomer Khamzat Chimaev opened the main card with a spectacular first-round victory over Rhys McKee. It’s Chimaev’s second win in 10 days in Abu Dhabi.
Chimaev made his UFC debut on July 15 in a middleweight bout against John Phillips. He dominated that from the opening seconds and went on to submit Phillips. Last night, he grabbed the bull by the horns, or rather more literally, McKee upon the opening bell. It was over before it began.
