What to Expect at San Diego Comic-Con International 2018

SDCC-2018

On Thursday, thousands upon thousands will descend upon San Diego for the comic-con that started it all, the San Diego Comic-Con International 2018. With juggernauts such as Marvel/Disney and HBO not bringing any tentpoles to the SDCC 2018 there won’t be any Captain Marvel or Game of Thrones teasers, but fear not, there are others bringing some big and bad (literally) stuff to SDCC 2018. Check out what to look forward to this year.

1. Aquaman

Director James Wan confirmed that the first full trailer for Aquaman will debut at Hall H. Buzz on this is good and building with each new pic and bit released. Some story details have been released. Chief among them are that Jason Mamoa will don the classic suit at some point and that in the film Aquaman will be searching for the King’s Trident while he also tries to stop the Ocean Master from invading the mainland.

2. Wonder Woman 1984

Not far behind Aquaman will be his Justice League stable mate Wonder Woman. DC and Warner’s will likely be bringing new footage from the sequel Wonder Woman 1984. Get your fanny packs and leg warmers ready as the sequel is set in the 1980’s. From what little we’ve seen this looks like it could channel the same vibe FX show The Americans channeled as our heroine deals with the crisis that is the Cold War.

3. Shazam!

Billy Batson isn’t quite ready for the Justice League, but he is finally getting his own flick. Shazam is sure to be on display in Hall H in some form or fashion, with many speculating it will make it’s trailer premiere or at least some teaser footage at Comic-Con. Early looks at the suit and story details have gotten passionate responses, both good and bad. So, this should be an interesting reveal.

4. Breaking Bad Reunion

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the cast of “Breaking Bad” will reunite in Hall H (rumored) for a Q&A panel.

With the cast members such as Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, Dean Norris, Anna Gunn, Bob Odenkirk, Giancarlo Esposito, Betsy Brandt, Jonathan Banks and RJ Mitte all in attendance, seems to be a little too coincidental. No?

5. The Spider-Verse

While Marvel is skipping this year’s festivities, it doesn’t mean we won’t get some Marvel properties on display. Sony owns the rights to Spider-Man. So, we will be seeing additional footage from Venom and animated feature Into the Spider-Verse featuring Miles Morales as the web slinger.

6. Reboots

What’s old is new again. That’s just Hollywood. Expect to see trailers for a number of properties getting the reboot treatment. From Predator, to Halloween, to a very unique pre-sequel, in the form of Glass. Which will follow up on the events of Split and incorporate our favorite heroes from Unbreakable. Glass also stars one of our favorite Latina starlets Anya-Taylor Joy.
