Must See Cars @ 2015 New York International Auto Show

New-York-Auto-Show

Its Christmas in April for gear-heads. Because from April 3rd to the 12th the 2015 New York International Auto Show descends upon the Jacob Javits Center. ‘LLERO walked the floor of the show for an entire day and scoped out some of the most eye-catching models that had everyone snapping selfies along side them. We can definitely say that concept car and bright colors have definitely made a return to auto making. Read on to see the highlights. To attend the show, you can purchase tickets at autoshowny.com.

Aston Martin Vulcan
No it’s not a Star Trek inspired car, but if a car could fly, surely this one would. At 800-plus-horsepower, this V12 is a beast under the hood. The exterior is equally as impressive. The design follows the lines from Aston Martins of the last decade but puts a futuristic spin on them. Top it off with a massive black rear spoiler, and yes you are ready for warp speed.

Dodge Viper SRT
Dodge presented a tricked out version of its Viper SRT. This one of a kind cavalcade of color was hand painted in Detroit. Duo-tone with neon green on one side and purple on the other. As one spectator put it, Dodge bedazzled the Viper!

2016 Lincoln Continental Concept
The Lincoln Continental is back with some wow-factor technology in the form of electro chromatic glass that switches from clear to opaque without need of a sliding curtain. The design has also seen a makeover. Inside and out has been updated with a retro look, but also a split-wing grille giving a more Bentley-Jaguar-like look. We just wish the model were included!

Honda Civic Concept
The Honda Civic has been around in some form or fashion since the 70’s. Its latest iteration brings some eye popping green. It definitely turned heads on the showroom floor, as the newly revealed concept is the sportiest Civic it has ever designed. But Honda has also enhanced the safety features. Honda says the next-gen Civic is set to feature a suite of safety and driver-assistive tech, including Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning, Multi-Angle Rearview Camera and Adaptive Cruise Control.

Subaru STI BRZ Performance Concept
Subaru was quite mum about the details of the STI Performance Concept. After getting a look at the blue matte finish, wide body kits, single twin pipe exhaust, and massive black spoiler, we had all the details we needed.

Toyota iRoad and FV2
Toyota brought a pair of technical innovations to the show this year. First up its i-Road, technically a three wheel electric car, but looks like motorcycle meets bobsled. Not currently for sale, but being tested in San Francisco, Japan and France. You turn with a steering wheel just like in a car, but the entire vehicle leans into each curve, just like on a motorcycle. The i-Road’s objective is to be an alternative, quicker, easier way to commute in car-congested cities, like the ones its being tested in.

FV2
Tron. Its what immediately came to mind when we saw the FV2 short for “Fun Vehicle 2”. With this concept car Toyota is seeking to create a physical and emotional connection between car and driver. How? By relying on the driver’s body movements to determine which direction to go and using voice and facial cues to sense the driver’s mood. Like one big mood ring, its exterior color changes. Oh yes, there is also no steering wheel, gas pedal or brake. Rather, the FV2 responds to a shift in body weight, so you have to lean in whatever direction you want to go, much like a Segway.

Toyota Yankees Car
It wouldn’t be the NY Auto Show, if there weren’t some nod to the local culture. Toyota didn’t forget, so it brought out its hybrid car, but customized to the New York Yankees. We think somewhere in the stadium, the bullpen car has gone missing.

Chevrolet Corvette Z06
Its not a car show without a Corvette and the 2015 NY Auto Show doesn’t disappoint. A head turner for sure. Buyers get the Z06 engine, racing suspension and brakes, and now, for the first time since 1963, they can get that package with a convertible top.

Lexus RCF GT3
The Lexus RCF GT3 is the brand’s foray back into the racing world. The concept based on the RC F sports coupe and houses a modified version of the RC F’s 5.0-liter V8, but ups the output from 467 horsepower to 540 hp. The racecar also is also lower and wider, with additional aerodynamic work done to the body. We just think it looks sweet.
