10 Rides You Need to See at the 2017 New York Auto Show

The 2017 New York International Auto Show (NYIAA) has landed. From April 14th to the 23rd thousands will walk the halls of the Jacob Javits Center browsing the latest and greatest the automotive industry has to offer. The NYIAA is a wonderland for gearheads and the casual fan alike and this year doesn’t disappoint. From muscle cars, to eco-friendly SUV’s to those folks just looking for the most pimped out ride available there is something for everyone. We’ve curated the floor; here are ten rides you need to see at this years NYIAA.

LEXUS

The offerings from Lexus range from sporty to straight up bling. Check out their wares below.

Lexus LS 500 Sport

Making its debut at the show is the 2018 Lexus LS 500 Sport, Lexus makes no pretensions about this car. It’s not about performance, but about a sleek looking ride. With a new ‘spindle’ grille, rocker panels and 20-inch alloy wheels this is a head turner for sure.

LIT IS

The Lexus LIT IS covered in over 40,000 programmable LED lights that changes color in response to human gestures and music. The ride was created as part of a collaboration between Lexus and video streaming service Vevo to promote UK singer Dua Lipa’s new video, “Be The One”.


NISSAN GOES ROGUE

Nissan partnered with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story to create a custom line Nissan Rogue series. At this year’s show Nissan presented the vehicles, but droid’s are not included.

SUPER CARS

Muscle and super cars certainly have their moment at this year’s show.

Koenigsegg RS1

Koenigsegg Automotive is premiering the Koenigsegg Agera RS – more commonly referred to as the ‘RS1’ at this year’s show. The RS1 is finished in Arctic White with highlights in a specially selected shade of blue on the front winglets, side skirts, diffuser and rear wing.

Spyker C8 Preliator

Spyker returns to the show this year with its C8 Preliator. Only 100 Preliators between the coupe and spyder will be made. Fellow super car maker Koenigsegg is making the engine — 5.0-liter V8 units producing 600 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque with a six-speed manual as the only transmission. Dodge Challenger Demon

The Dodge Challenger Demon is the vehicle getting all the attention at this year’s show. Billed as the world’s fastest ¼ mile production car, it’s powered by a Supercharged 6.2L HEMI® SRT Demon V8 engine and armed with a functional Air-Grabber hood scoop and Torque Reserve Launch System. Sitting on 18 inch wheels it looks like Dominic Toretto will step out of the ride.


CONCEPT CARS

Genesis GV80 Concept

Hyundai is throwing its name into the luxury SUV game with its brand, Genesis, the new GV80 Concept features clean panels and fluid lines, a front grille called the “Genesis crest grille,” and headlights that resemble the “Thor-hammer” style design found on the latest Volvos.

Mercedes GTC Roadster

One of the sexiest concept cars developed by Mercedes in years, the AMG GT, makes its North American premiere at the show. Beneath the sexy red surface, it uses the a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, but also packs an extra punch as it also comes with an electric motor and a modular battery concept, to develop more than 800hp.
