Blending elements of tech, luxury and the latest Fast & Furious movies, the 2015 LA Auto Show has been garnering a ton of viral buzz and for good reason. The annual expo brings together the world’s biggest car brands and showcases nearly every important ride from the coming year. Whether it’s an eco-innovator, a powerful 4×4 or the latest “break your bank” Benz, this nine-day event in LA’s famed downtown district is a sight to be seen!
Here are a few rides we’ll be seeking out at dealerships in 2016…
Honda Civic Coupe
It’s been hard to escape the chatter about the redesigned Civic. Offering a sportier style and a quieter interior, it’s got a sleek curvature (which looks great in blue) setting it apart from previous models. There are also a ton of improvements under the hood, including a 158-horsepower engine. Best of all, the Civic was one of the most affordable rides on the floor with a price tag of $18,000.
Ford Escape
In the world of SUV’s it’s hard to ignore the latest Ford Escape. The last time this model was updated was back in 2013. Now, drivers get a wider frame and a redesigned grill. There are also a ton of green upgrades (including a new “EcoBoost” engine) and a special sync feature which can add “unlock” and “ignition” features to your smartphone.
Buick LaCrosse
American cars were bringing a lot of buzz at this year’s show, particularly the new Buick LaCrosse. With its new size and shape, this car felt extremely powerful. The engine kicks off about 305 horsepower and there’s 268 lbs. of torque. Best of all, the LaCrosse is now available as a V-6 meaning less cash at the pump.
Mercedes Maybach
For those who enjoy the good life, it was hard to escape the Mercedes-Benz booth. Top-of-the-line coupes and racers were all on display, but our eyes went to straight to the Maybach sedan. This oversized bad boy epitomizes automotive luxury. Power leg rests, a champagne fridge, back seat HDTV screens…it’s not surprising that it’s selling for $420,000. But for that price, you also get a kickass engine with 523 horsepower and 0-60 speed in under five seconds.
Lexus GS F
Lexus is another name that’s synonymous with luxury and their latest GS F sedan delivers it in spades. Not only does it feature a ton of interior tech (including a Drive Mode system and smartphone synchronization), it’s extremely easy on the eyes. The grill, wheels and backside represent pure artistry, offering functionality and a chic design. This one definitely leans towards the pricey with a $85,000 price tag.
Acura NSX
The longest lines were definitely behind the sports coupes and the NSX may have been the belle of the ball. Debuting next spring, this “next generation supercar” (as Acura likes to put it) offers hybrid technology in a kickass shell. There are 573 horses under the hood, with a top speed of 191 mph. It also has an amazingly simplistic interior with one large rotary dial used to set all of the major features. Tech, tread and a tight overall package…all for the bargain price of $160,000.
