The 2016 NBA All-Star game is just days away. All things NBA will descend upon Toronto as the East and West face-off for the annual clash of basketball titans. With an assist from Nike, NBA royalty in the form of Kobe Bryant, Anthony Davis, Kevin Durant, Paul George and LeBron James each will showcase All-Star editions of their signature shoes inspired by the host city. Scroll on down for a closer look at their custom line of kicks.
Nike Air Audacity
Future NBA legend Anthony Davis is getting in the shoe game and making the most of what his momma gave him. The Air Audacity brings the power of “The Brow” to the court, complete with a heathered textile upper and an embroidered crest detail on the tongue.
Nike Hyperlive
Also on the come-up in terms of seeking franchise/legend status, Paul George will make his fourth All-Star appearance. He brings to Toronto his special Hyperlive player-edition shoe. Can’t help but notice the bold Canadian-red upper, maple-inspired gum outsole and leaf basketball logo. We just think there on fleek.
KD8
Turning to a player in his NBA prime, and just a little hardware shy of cementing his legend status, Kevin Durant tricks out his KD8 for the All-Star festivities. Modern blocking, inspired by the classic look of flags spotted throughout Toronto that represent the city’s internationalism, brings a fresh graphic twist to the KD8’s. Removable patches adorn the heel and tongue, and a white and light blue marble graphic, which references Toronto’s icy winter weather, decorates the outsole.
LeBron 13
LeBron James is arguably at the top of the heap. With two rings under his belt, four league MVP’s and countless All-Star game appearances, King James brings the LEBRON 13 to Toronto, which features a grey-green upper — reminiscent of the neutral tones of Toronto’s winter — with graphic blocking similar to the KD8. An icy, marbled effect covers the outsole heels of James’s game shoe while pins honor the player’s on-court triumphs.
Kobe 11
If LeBron is the King, then Kobe Bryant is the Emperor. The only player in the NBA who can still lay greater claim to NBA dominance. Don’t believe us. Give him a call, he’ll pick up after the fifth ring. In this his farewell season Black Mamba, brings his Kobe 11, a sleek black upper with a glowing green pop is a nod to the luminescence of the Northern Lights. Unique molded leather detailing on the heel and tongue gives the KOBE 11 new dimensionality. And is excellent way to say farewell.
