Hopefully at this stage of life your vacation game needs to evolve. We should have gotten all of the beer bongs and body shots out of our system (well most of us, at least). Don’t get us wrong. In the glory days, a spring break vacation was definitely a time to get wild. But as we reach the sophisticated stage of life, it becomes a time to chill, eat well and hang with ladies that aren’t drinking with the help of a fake ID.
So we thought we’d share a few “mature” March fiesta ideas that are just as exciting and let you party like a grown-up.
Austin
We know what you’re thinking. Coming off the nutty SXSW festival, how could Austin be an upscale spring break locale? The key is, knowing where to go and how to work it. Take a short road trip to Frankston and you’ll find yourself at the best golf could to be played in the entire state (according to Golfweek.com). Boasting 89 bunkers and a gorgeous array of trees, Pine Dunes Resort & Golf Club is the crown jewel of Texas greens. After a solid 18-hole set, you can head back to the city and chow down at the world-famous Iron Works BBQ restaurant. And as far as the sophisticated drinking goes, it’ll be hard to beat the ritzy Continental Club, which Playboy named as one of the country’s best.
Las Vegas
Believe it or not, Vegas was recently named one of the top “adult” spring break destinations by Forbes magazine. Why? Because of the upscale resurgence currently underway on the strip. New affordable luxury resorts like Aria and The Cosmopolitan have become established hotels known for the grown-up sexy rather than the Red Bull & vodka crowd. You won’t find any Roman guards or white tiger pictures in these lobbies. Instead, you’ll come face-to-face with Mad Men style waitresses serving up classic martini cocktails. Cosmo guests also get exclusive access to the posh Marquee nightclub and day clubs.
Los Angeles
Interested in something a bit beachy for your sojourn? SoCal is catching a wave of vacationers eager for fun in the sun. Located just 15 minutes from LAX, the coastal city of Hermosa Beach is a great place to let off steam. During the day there are lively volleyball matches and bikini girls bearing golden brown skin. At night you can hit up the Strand to indulge in a row of festive bars ranging from Irish pubs to Mexican cantinas. There is also a wide array of live music clubs nearby featuring some of L.A.’s best cover bands.
New York
Want to be part of the socialite scene? Here partygoers don’t go topless at the beach, they sip aged liqueur and have intellectual discussions. If you can push your break to April, you’ll definitely want to hit up the Tribeca Film Festival. We’re talking celebs of every stripe, fancy loft parties and opportunity to flash that killer suit you’ve been keeping in your closet. Not only will you get to see some interesting flicks, you can meet hot hipster chicks at the after parties!
