The powerful first trailer for a mini series about the Central Park Five is coming to Netflix. Entitled, “When They See Us,” the four part series chronicles the case of the five young men wrongly convicted. In April of 1989, a women was jogging through Central Park and violently attacked and raped. She would be forever known as the Central Park Jogger. Five teenage boys of color were charged with assault, robbery, riot, rape, sexual abuse, and attempted murder, without corroborating DNA evidence. All the young men were found guilty. A serial rapist later confessed to the crime, and the young men were exonerated. But the wrongful conviction and time in prison forever changed their lives. “When They See Us” premieres May 31st.
