Ryan Garcia fought Francisco Fonseca last night at the Honda Center in Anaheim. Given the result it may better be described the Valentine’s Day Massacre. Garcia made short and easy work of Fonseca dropping him flat on his back in round one of their matchup. After the fight Garcia said “I was hoping that it would last a little bit longer. When I saw Fonseca move to the side, it gave me the opportunity to hit him with that left hook. I saw the left hook. It was there. I just needed to let him to commit to a shot, so I let him get comfortable, and I caught him between the shot. It’s a perfect left hook.”

Garcia’s promotion company Golden Boy has been grooming Garcia for some time. Now sporting a record of 20-0, 2020 looks to be a breakout year for the lightweight. Bigger matches appear to be on the horizon, most notably against WBC Champ Devin Haney, who had a bit of an exchange after the fight. In the interim peep the highlights of Garcia v. Fonseca here.
