Today became official what we’ve all known for some time – Mariano Rivera is in the Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame Class of 2019 gathered today in Cooperstown for their induction ceremony. Roy Halladay, Edgar Martínez, Mike Mussina and Rivera gathered to see their plaques and give their thanks. Fellow countrymen Roberto Duran and Laurentino Cortizo were in attendance to support. As were former team mates Andy Pettitte, Jorge Posada, Derek Jeter, Bernie Williams and Joe Torre all in attendance to support Rivera. Bernie Williams even performed an opening guitar montage that included Rivera’s famous calling card song – “Enter Sandman”. In his speech Rivera was much like he was throughout his illustrious career. Giving thanks to all those around him, humble, gracious and grateful for the honor.
