Al Capone is getting the biopic treatment. The film, aptly title Capone stars Tom Hardy as the ruthless bootlegging gangster. Over the years many have played the Chicago gangster from Ben Gazzara to Robert DeNiro in The Untouchables. However, those depictions were of the man in his prime. The current incarnation focuses on the Capone’s latter years. Released from prison, living in Florida and suffering from dementia. This phase has yet to be fully captured on film. Hardy is an A-list star with chops to spare, so that’s a good sign. The film is directed by Josh Trank and co-stars Matt Dillion and Linda Cardellini. Capone opens On Demand on May 12.
