The UFC 259 championship triple header concluded with its share of surprises. Amanda Nunes performance was not one of them. Arguably the greatest female fighter in MMA history. Nunes faced off against highly touted prospect Megan Anderson.
Amanda Nunes made quick and easy work of Anderson. Submitting Anderson with an armbar at the 2:03 mark of the first round. With the victory Nunes retains her Featherweight title and notched her 12th consecutive victory. The biggest problem for Nunes at this point – a viable opponent. With no one left at to fight at Featherweight Nunes will likely drop back down to 135 pounds to defend that belt next.
In the co-main event Jan Blachowicz defended his Light Heavyweight title for the first time against Middleweight king, Israel Adesanya. A surprise to many however, Adesanya made a jump in weight so while expected to win, many realized it would be a high bar to overcome.
