It may seem as if Ana de Armas came out of nowhere in 2016. Yet, this Latina ingénue is no rookie. At a mere 16 years-old, she made her feature film debut in her native Cuba in the film Una rosa de Francia. Next up came television fame in Spain on El Internado and Hispania, la leyenda. However, she was just getting started, as greater ambition beckoned her to the U.S. In 2016 she appeared in no less than three major motion pictures. First along-side Keanu Reeves in the independent film Exposed. Then the Todd Phillips directed War Dogs with Jonah Hill and Miles Teller. The trifecta came when she co-starred in Hands of Stone sharing the big screen with the likes of Robert DeNiro, Edgar Ramirez and Usher. The latter film chronicled the life story of boxing legend Roberto Duran, with Armas portraying Duran’s wife Felicidad Iglesias. At first glance one may think it was your typical female supporting role, but her performance proved to be anything but.
